I suppose this could be considered our belated Easter episode as Eric and I talk about more in depth about The Passion of the Christ which we touched on in episode 29. Now, having seen the movie, I’ve got some *thoughts*.

Be sure to stick around after the end for some good old fashioned aimless Workshop banter.

Did you miss us? Too bad. We’re back either way.

After an extended absence during which I got married, we have returned to fulfill our #commitment to podcasting excellence. Join us as I give thanks that the wedding is behind me, we “recap” this year’s winter Olympics, and chat about Bible movies.

Also, I mis-remembered. Swanky Kong first appeared in Donkey Kong Country 2, but I had DKC3 growing up and that’s the game I remembered him from. Gotta get the important facts straight.

We welcome 2018 with a whimper and a bang!

We talk about my other podcast which Eric isn’t actually jealous of. We recount what we’re looking forward to in 2018. Contrary to what the internet says, it won’t all be bad. And finally we have a spoiler-filled discussion of Star Wars: The Last Jedi because that had to happen. Sorry.

I seem to have settled on theme music I like… after a solid year of random weird stuff I found on a public domain music site. As much as I like finding something new and different each episode, I also like the idea of having a regular “theme.” The name of the song I’m using is “Do the Jelly Donut” which is also amazing. What do you think? Leave us some feedback if you care!

Bits Don’t Byte – Star Wars: The Last Jedi

So… how’s it going?

One night I was attempting to play some Destiny with a couple of friends. We accidentally created a podcast instead. It happens.

Whereas The Workshop is more of a general slice-of-life/cultural commentary kind of podcast, Bits Don’t Byte will have a decidedly more nerdy focus. Expect lengthy, deep discussions on various geeky subjects.

Case in point: here’s a 2 hour discussion of that there new Star Wars movie. It’s a bit of a controversial one, huh? This is a very, very spoiler heavy discussion. You have been warned.

Bits Don’t Byte features Joshua Kehe, his brother Ben, and yours truly, Matt Goldammer. Please enjoy.

The Workshop #21 – Our worst episode

Subscribe: Feedburner | iTunes | Facebook

Sometimes we go to record an episode of The Workshop podcast thinking we’ve got plenty of topics. And sometimes we proceed talking like there’s not actually anyone listening and just have meandering conversations that probably only interest us. That’s what happened here. I cut a lot of the most meandering stuff out and as a consequence this is (mercifully) our shortest episode in addition to maybe our worst! It’s all smooth sailing from here, right?

Join us if you dare as we engage in random chatter, self-absorbed navel gazing about our own show, and finally just give up and go through a stupid and terrible list of things millennials have supposedly killed.

Today’s episode has a little bit of everything. We ponder what it would be like if The Workshop Podcast were a TED Talk, relive childhood nightmares discussing weirdly creepy scenes from kids movies, and finally talk about what Eric actually wanted to in the first place: summer church youth camps. Also featured: IKEA, some serious talk about the church, and 90s INTERLUDES!

The Workshop #17 – Trailing off…

We leave sentences unsatisfyingly unfinished on this episode. Eric asks if and how much should music artists change their style over time. I recap my thoughts about a couple movies I saw: one good (Wonder Woman) and one so-bad-it’s-good (you’ll just have to listen to find out).

On this episode of The Workshop, we talk mostly summer movies – what we’re excited to see or maybe not. This was recorded a few weeks ago. Most of the movies we talk about are still in the future, but Wonder Woman came out last week and is pretty good for what it’s worth.

Also stick around for enthralling discussions about the highest tech of topics like virtual reality… and paper.

Kids these days probably don’t know about Homestar Runner and that’s a shame. Here is a Homestar Runner cartoon that probably has little appeal to anyone outside of the Homestar cult, but – hey – it’s the one I referenced during the episode, so it’s the one I’m posting. WATCH IT, KIDS.
